However, the outcome depends highly on your content and the current ... let's say "hype". For example: AI / ML are hot topics since years. Creating content in this field may provide a high return, if the content is good enough.

I for example create "Astronomy + Python" tutorials on YouTube. It takes some time to create these videos and I get some feedback. But the revenue is 0 $. Why? Well, its a niche topic. So why do I stick with it? Because I am extremely passionate about space :).

Creating a small community is fun, if you love your topic. But it is not a certainty that this will give a monetary return.
