I used my 20s in the university, academia, research. Did I make enough money? Well depends on the definition. My saving rate was almost 0. But it was a fun time I do not want to miss. Working for an ESA and NASA mission. Being part of a scientific story and history. These kind of experiences were and are way more important for me. Stories, experiences, knowledge, my passion for astronomy, geology and so on define me. Now in my 30s I work in the industry. I save now money for later and no, I do not regret that I couldn't start earlier. Instead of thinking and writing about money, I write in my free time about programming, space and things I like. My future is important to me. But I need a meaningful job and hobby for being fulfilled as a human being. Thinking about FIRE in 10 years wouldn’t allow me to enjoy my work, purpose I have set to myself. Is this an illusion? Maybe. But as long as I am happy, everything is fine, and some savings will be there in some decades.
